Where did we spend most of our time last school term?
The TVET (Technical Vocational Education Teaching) area is made up of Carpentry, Auto Shop, Sewing, and Cooking. We also started taking Microsoft Office Certification, so we can have workshops on Saturday mornings next term. Working with the students on their projects is probably the most enjoyable part of our mission.
TVET building is located on campus a little separated from the rest of the school.

Carpentry Area
Bud spent a lot of time with the Carpentry students.
The students spent half time in theory in the classroom and half time in the shop.
The students work on both individual projects and team projects.
This term we piloted a new program for the Level 10 (Freshman) students. They get an overview of Carpentry, Auto Shop, Cooking and either Hospitality or Agriculture.
The students worked on a picnic table and then did individual end tables. The Auto Shop is well equipped.

Tire changer and balancer |
The students work on car maintenance as well as other projects to introduce them to auto mechanics.
Cooking Area
The students prepare a dish for a specific purpose and present it. Elder and Sister Little often were asked to help judge these dishes (such a sacrifice, but it's all part of serving a mission).
Sister Williams lets the teachers "judge" the results. |
Sewing Area
Sewing students work on a variety of sewing projects and also stencil patterns onto fabrics for making quilts.

Athletics's or Field Day
At the end of the term the school had a Field Day. Each student was put into one of four "houses," and they competed against each other.
Competitions included most all track and field events - running, hurdles, high jump, and etc.
