Humanitarian Missionary Tour

We took a tour of some of the projects our Humanitarian Missionaries are involved

Schools

The Church provides assistance with desk, chairs, books and etc to schools who need help.  This school had it's window blown our during our last typhoon.

Little Sisters of the Poor

The Church works with other charitable organizations.  Little Sisters of the Poor provide housing to seniors who do not have anywhere else to go.  It is run by 7 Nuns.

The Cameron's were dropping off  some supplies for their organization.

The grounds are beautiful

Another organization donated some solar panels to help lower their electric bills.

The Sisters are doing a great work!

Water Tanks

The church provides a lot of water tanks to villages.  Quite often they are the type that catch the rain water off the roof and store it.

This is the start of a new project to add a new plastic tank to hold water from a spring.  They are also repairing the old cement water tank and running new water lines to the water house.

Retaining area

Water House for village members to get water.

Old cement water tank they will be repairing to double the size of storage.

The Village is in quite a poor circumstances.  All Church donations require the village to provide the labor for the project so they have ownership in the project.

Elder Gurr served his mission here in Samoa and loves talking with the little kids.

Elder Cameron is heading up the project.

The  village is in quite poor circumstances.

Airing out bedding in the sun.

On the way back, we stopped by a little family to drop off some hygiene kits .

We also dropped by Elder Fata's property, (our Area Authority Seventy) .  He would eventually like to build a  future summer home on his wife's family property.  Now it is just a fun place for the Family Service Missionaries to help at.

SQA Final Documents

Red Letter Day for SQA!

We turned in our 'final' documents for our accreditation of our Auto, Construction Trades, Hospitality, and Kitchen Operations classes.  When finished with the accreditation process this will allow students to take these classes and get University credit just the  same as taking them at a local University.

It has been a long process.

Circus is in town

Step right up for a fun evening at the Circus.

Senior Missionaries at the Circus. (Including the Mission President)

The Sideshow acts were pretty 'cheezie' including the guy with the red nose.

Side shows included sword and fire swallowing, a guy pounding a nail up his nose, bed of nails, and a few others.  Pretty fakey.

The actual Circus acts were REALLY good.  Almost up to to a Cruise Entertainment level.

Balancing acts, magic acts, juggling, unicycles, clowns,  and a good variety more.  All amazingly pretty professional.  Bruno was the main RingMaster with a small crew of talented people.

The most amazing act was the motorcycles in a large ball cage.  They started with 1 motorcycle and worked up to 3 motorcycles at the same time doing loop the loops in a large ball .

Buses in Samoa

The buses in Samoa are amazing!

The buses are personally owned and operated.  They bid on routes and the fares are regulated by the government.  They have the most interesting saying on them.

Passengers can carry cargo home in a back opening

Lots of fun saying

Interiors are rather stark.
